This bottle is often referred to as the Wisthoff bottle. The Wisthoff glassworks, located in the Rur Valley in Essen-Horst, is believed to be the oldest industrial enterprise in what is now the city of Essen. It was established in 1723 and became a royal glass factory in 1727 under the privilege of Friedrich Wilhelm I.
Originally named Hünninghauser Glashütte after its founder, Hermann Albert Hünninghaus, it later became known as Knohl'sche Glashütte. In 1820, the factory was taken over by Friedrich Ignatz Wisthoff. His former residence, a half-timbered house located at Bochumer Straße 50 in Essen-Steele, is now a listed building. The factory itself was located nearby, also on Bochumer Straße. Since 2004, Wisthoff has been part of the Gerresheimer Group, now known as "Gerresheimer Essen."

Storage of Dried Herbal Tea or Spices (Amber Jar): The PE-LD seal in the screw cap largely prevents the ingress of air and moisture, while the amber jar protects herbal teas and spices from light, yet still allows visibility of the contents. Thanks to the dark glass and tight-fitting lid, herbs and spices retain their color intensity and flavor. The wide opening makes it easy to add or remove contents, and the jars are dishwasher safe.
